Health Nuggets:
After a wound or injury, the body requires more nutrients. Vitamin C is essential in tissue healing.
Protein is also key; after injury, the body needs about 1.5 grams of protein per kilogram per day (for a 150-pound person, that's about 102 grams of protein per day). One breast of chicken is about 32 grams. Tuna is almost pure protein with about 25g. A can of garbanzo beans is about 21 grams. Peanut butter is about 8 grams. So, skip the sugary soda and empty carbs and choose citrus fruit and protein to heal.
